Positive vibe at last!!!

Congratulations Blip!!! All that stressing for nothing. Told ya so!!!!! When's the baileys and the champers coming out???

Beautiful evening. Went walking by myself for about an hour before heading off to dinner! Great to catch up with people once again!! Had a great time but didn't get to talk much to the bday girl who was sitting on the other corner of a long table..haha

In a happy but nostalgic mood...

Bus driver

Feeling so sentimental these days!!...haha. Well, friday morning started with a tut at 9 - which didn't really turn out to be a tut but a 'do what you have to do in your groups' and 'I'm just here to answer any questions?' tut. We called it a day after 1 hour. So left at 10am. Thinking that I'll get home earlier than usual I was in a good mood!!

The bus came 10 mins late but I was fine with that. It wasn't until when we got to mascot that I became frustrated! Why? Well the bus stopped for a change of drivers. The new driver came over about to go onto the bus and the old driver stops him. Reason? Because the new driver didn't have the right keys to the new bus. Result? The old driver made the new driver take the old bus and told us to get off the bus and wait for the new driver to make a turn around to pick us up. The old driver just drove off! Some attitude must I say!! During the trip, the new driver asked for some commuters to sign and write their details on a card - for some kind of witness evidence I guess??

Strange occurences

Strange things have been happening to me for the past couple of days. The feeling of uneasiness, emotional turmoil and stress. Well maybe it's not as drastic as it sounds!! But still..haha. First the injury to F, the dream, the collapse...its probably all unrelated but coincidentally each event happened consecutively day after day. I just find that funny!!

On the other day hand, maybe its not funny. Sometimes one has to slow down, have a think and look around. You realise how many things happen suddenly, unexpectedly. You never know what's going to happen 1 month, week, day or even minute down the track. Nobody knows. I think one of my lessons now is to learn to saviour the precious moments and people in life. The people that make your world go round are the ones that should be cherished! Time does not stop and wait for us to catch up with it.

My two favourite quotes:
"We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere"

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

Happy Bday Jas!

Best wishes!!

Panic Attack

Guess I caused a panic attack today for my parents and for F. Can't be bothered elaborating on the details. Basically everything was a blur for 2 secs, couldn't walk straight and was in a state of helplessness for 15 minutes....haha. Kinda looked like this little creature But felt better around half an hour later....was even considering going back to class but then since I could get a lift home..yeah why not. It was only accounting afterall that I would be missing out on.

Thanks F for 'looking after me'!!! Oh what would I do without you??...haha. Far out man...probably would have slept in a certain place over night without anyone realising if you didn't pick up the phone!!! Okay, enough blabbering for now. Maybe I'll just chill out for the rest of the night.

Mouth watering...

Interesting article from SMH. Must visit some of these one day especially since some do not seem too expensive!!

Start a gourmet tour with these 50 subjective picks of foodie things to do in Sydney.

It doesn't have to be 2am and you don't have to be well refreshed to join the queue for a pie floater at iconic pie cart Harry's Cafe De Wheels. It's all about the pie, the mash volcano and the lake of gravy within. A cheap but tasty indulgence. Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo, 9357 3074.

Drive through Kuring-gai Chase National Park to the end of Cottage Point to Cottage Point Kiosk. Get a table on the veranda, a works burger with chips (or, say, a fish curry from the specials menu) and a cold bottle of white. Eat slowly. Stare at the view. 1 Notting Lane, Cottage Point, 9456 3024.

Walk past the piles of handmade breads, pasta and imported delicacies, push open the glass door and enter Sydney's finest cheese room at Simon Johnson's Pyrmont shop. You'll find the staff love good cheese as much as you do. 181 Harris Street, Pyrmont, 9552 2522.

Trawl through Bankstown Plaza for a freshly squeezed sugar-cane drink, pho and bun soups from the south and north of Vietnam and food from street stalls. Buy live fish from tanks, Vietnamese pastries, pristine Asian greens and all manner of groceries. South Terrace, Bankstown.

Mark Best is as serious as his food at Marque is witty, his wine list spirited and his approach intelligent, spinning every modern influence into dining that makes grown men and restaurant reviewers weep. 355 Crown Street, Surry Hills, 9322 2225.

At Chinatown Noodle Restaurant watch Qan Xiao Tang, ex-violinist and master noodle-maker and dumpling-pincher, at work then chow down on amazing specialties from northern China, including the famous Beijing pancake. Drippy teapots add to the charm. TG7, Prince Centre, 8 Quay Street, Haymarket, 9281 9051.

So mamma mia, so right. Il Tratto Ra Ro's racing waitresses, crisp and garlicky pizza bianca, blackboard menu of daily market specials (seasonally attuned) and friendly family gusto will please everyone. 108-110 Majors Bay Road, Concord, 8765 8866.

Go to Dolce Vita Fine Foods if only for Pino Tomini Foresti's prosciutto cotto, sweet and moist and pink, or his salami, chewy and spicy and aromatic. But there are also the cheeses, the bottles of passato and Gianni Mancuso's divine biscotti with a great coffee. 45 President Avenue, Kogarah, 9587 4818.

An Eastern European food fest, the platters at Doma Bohemian Beer Cafe feature roast pork, smoked pork, pork belly, pork schnitzel and duck; there are Czech beers on tap; and the alfresco decor is positively Student Prince. 29 Orwell Street, Potts Point, 9331 0022.

It seems that everybody who's into coffee is drawn to the waterside stall of Toby's Estate Coffee before, during or after filling the basket/trolley/ reusable bag with the best of the Good Living Growers' Market. First Saturday of the month, Pyrmont Bay Park, Pyrmont.

Select a few essentials from a DJs food hall and a cold bottle. Then find a nice possie on the water (Camp Cove is pretty amazing) and settle in for the afternoon. Do it midweek to make it a very Aussie experience.

Stroll and slip your way around the wet fish counters at the Sydney Fish Market. Queue at a hot grill for a seafood platter of squid, fish, mussels and chips. Get your wine and glasses (plastic) from the bottle shop, bread and cheese from the deli, then fight other diners and seagulls for a table outside. At the market's dawn auction, where all that glorious, glossy seafood meets its wholesaler, the action is blindingly fast but the tour guides know their stuff; you see the sashimi auction and crab cage on the Behind the Scenes tour. Bank Street, Pyrmont, 9004 1100.

The tanned, the pert, the preening and the perfectly obnoxious linger at Longrain, drinking muddled lime drinks and perving. There is usually a wait for a space at one of the communal tables for dinner, so get a little Thai snack in the bar to pass the time. 85 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills, 9280 2888.

Fair Trade coffee seems to go hand in hand with the rise of boutique coffee roasters: growers get a fair price, you get a warm glow. At Single Origin Roasters, the East Timorese beans taste great through a home espresso machine, too. 60-64 Reservoir Street, Surry Hills, 9211 9055.

At Icebergs Dining Room and Bar ogle Bondi Beach, the surfers, the waiters and Robert Marchetti's simply sensational mod Med food. If the crab with polenta is on, have it. 1 Notts Avenue, Bondi Beach, 9365 9000.

Join the million or so other Sydneysiders desperate to enjoy drop-dead gorgeous Middle Harbour on a Sunday. Yes, you could come earlier, or later, or on a quieter day. But the real experience is enhanced by the wait. Bathers' Pavilion Cafe, 4 The Esplanade, Balmoral Beach, 9969 5050.

The crab sandwiches are sublime at Guillaume at Bennelong, the champers is always cold and you're ensconced in one icon while gazing at another. Sydney Opera House, Bennelong Point, 9241 1999.

There are free barbecues dotted all over this fair city, so all you need is a good snag. Try one of the A.C. Butchery outlets or any decent butcher that makes you feel as if you've left the country just for a while. Then cart it all down to the water with the dog, the kids and the salad and cook up a simple storm. 174 Marion Street, Leichhardt, 9569 8687.

Briny, sweet, plump Sydney rock oysters are a seriously sexy indigenous food. Ask for them freshly shucked, with all their precious juices intact, and enjoy them with an Australian sauvignon blanc and a close friend.

Scharers, the boutique brew, has been on tap at The Australian Hotel since 1994 (the Scharers owned the pub) and there's nothing more Sydney than being in the less touristy part of The Rocks, enjoying beer with real flavour. 100 Cumberland Street, 9247 2229.

It may be a cliche but for world-class dining in Sydney, Tetsuya's is it - not just the food, which is delicate and clever and mostly exquisite, but the whole well-oiled machine, from welcome to farewell. Service is superb and, yes, go for the matched wines menu option. 529 Kent Street, city, 9267 2900.

Casunzei are fabulous pasta crescents filled with a beetroot and poppyseed mix. They're a specialty of Italy's Alto Adige region, where George Pompei hung out before setting up here. Pompei's serves these, as well as authentic pizza and pistachio ice-cream made with Sicilian pistachios. 126 Roscoe Street, Bondi, 9365 1233.

Sydney's artisan bakers are changing the way we look at bread. Choose a decent textured loaf, slice it thickly, toast it darkly and smother it with really good butter (French is still best). Spread a wildflower honey on top then back to bed with you. Infinity Sour Dough Bakery, 225 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst, 9380 4320; Sonoma, 215A Glebe Point Road, Glebe, 9660 2116; Allpress Espresso (for Brasserie Bread), 58 Epsom Road, Rosebery, 9662 8288.

Chaat are Indian street snacks with names such as channa and dosai, vadai and idli, uttapam and puri. They're made with lentils, chickpeas, rice and spice. Maya Masala has plasma screens showing Bollywood movies and the best sticky sweets. 470 Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, 9699 8663.

Al-Dhiaffah al-Iraqi serves beautiful marinated kebabs, has a short menu of traditional Iraqi dishes and the best-ever fresh-baked bread from the drum oven out the back. 13 The Crescent, Fairfield, 9755 0870.

Laksa is a cult item in Sydney and everyone has a favourite source. To's is one contender for Sydney's best; another is the Malay-Chinese Takeaway, where even serious suits can be caught wearing bibs. To's, Shop 3, Lower ground floor, 169 Miller Street, North Sydney, 9955 2088; Malay-Chinese Takeaway, lower ground floor, 64 Castlereagh Street, city, 9232 7838.

Strudel, kugelhupf, sweet cheese pastry pockets, macaroons, chestnut puree ... anything from the Wellington Cake Shop. At this Hungarian institution, no one kugelhopf is ever quite the same as the next, but they all have runny rivers of chocolate inside. 157 Bondi Road, Bondi, 9389 4555.

Kazbah on Darling is always buzzing and for brunch you can't go past spiced mince, sujuk, eggs, baked tomatoes and caramelised onions served in a clay tagine (for two). 379 Darling Street, Balmain, 9555 7067.

Kylie Kwong's food is homestyle Cantonese with flair and feeling. You can't book at Billy Kwong and it is squashy, but once you're in you get looked after well. Just have the banquet menu, though Mrs Jang's frilly eggs with oyster sauce are also a must. 3/355 Crown Street, Surry Hills, 9332 3300.

Try the roast hoisin duck or better still, a mixed platter of three kinds of barbecue meats including the crispy roast pork, or soy chicken with ginger and shallot from Chatswood Barbecue Kitchen. 308 Victoria Avenue, Chatswood, 9419 6532.

Griottes are imported liqueur cherries. Master chocolatier Christophe Roose envelopes them in the finest bitter-sweet Cocoa Barry single origin dark chocolate at Christophe ses chocolats with just the stalk poking out, and lets them do magic things with crystallising sugar for weeks before you're allowed to bite into them. 269 Lyons Road, Five Dock, 9712 1144.

In the inspired Woolloomooloo wharf renovation, the W Hotel's candlelit Water Bar is all ottomans, lounges and oversized cushions you'd shove in your handbag if only the attentive staff would turn their backs for long enough. Great cocktails and a mean lounge soundtrack make this bar impossible to resist. W Hotel, Cowper Wharf Road, 9331 9000.

The tables at Fish Face are too small, the chairs are too high - but the sashimi-grade fish and prices are just right. 132 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst, 9332 4803.

The messy pile that is the Singapore chilli crab at Shun Tak Seafood Inn is best cleaned up with sweet buns. Then all you have to worry about is getting it off your fingers and shirtfront. 57 Macquarie Street, Parramatta, 9635 8128.

If you can't remember why burgers are a great thing, reacquaint yourself with one of Sydney's finest at Pauls's Famous, 12 Princes Highway, Sylvania, 9522 5632.

To beat the queue at the deli counter at Norton Street Grocer, take a number then head off for cornchips, a tub of Jimmy the Greek's taramasalata or your weekly veg. Get back to the counter to load up on chorizo, Italian sausages, buffalo mozzarella and ciabatta. Norton Plaza, 51-57 Norton Street, Leichhardt, 9572 7511; shop 1027, Westfield Bondi Junction, 9386 5800.

On Saturdays at about 4pm, the first of the Portuguese tarts - pasteis de nata - come out of the oven at Sweet Belem. If you haven't tasted one of these perfect confections, crisp of pastry, dense of custard, lightly sprinkled with cinnamon and ever so slightly burnt, straight from the oven, do so. 35 Canterbury Road, Petersham, 9572 6685.

You smell freshly roasted beans as you near Campos Coffee and you sense how seriously the staff take the finished product as soon as you enter. Order at the counter, take a little chocolate friand, then a seat. Your coffee arrives in time, though how they know it's yours remains a mystery. 193 Missenden Road, Newtown, 9516 3361.

Imagine yourself in Istanbul's grand bazaar ... within two blocks of Auburn railway station. There are bakers (try the Afghan Bakery's flatbreads), confectioners, halal butchers and supermarkets bursting with the spices of Asia Minor. Look for "Turkish viagra" - walnuts shelled, strung together and dipped in grape paste. Auburn and Station roads, Beatrice and Rawson streets, Auburn.

The queue stretches from the Hong Ha Bakery for three or four shopfronts. It's a lunch ritual, seven days, as a handful of workers churn out chicken rolls - shredded meat, mayonnaise, chilli, coriander, grated carrot on a super-fresh white bun - at just $3.50 a piece. That explains the queue. 1151 Botany Road, Mascot, 9667 2069.

Dream

I had a dream last night. Vague bits and pieces still hang around in my memory but as the day passes, those memories become fainter and fainter. The dream was not something that would happen in real life (I don't think) but I remember crying. I felt hot tears running across my face. I woke up feeling clammy and exhausted. I haven't had one of those tear jerking dreams in a long time. I wonder what caused it? What was running in my sub-conscious mind?? Sometimes I really want to know but then again it would probably be better if it stayed there in the unconscious. Silent and unknown.

Injury for F...

The day began out with a social tut with each group presenting their proposed experiments. After the presentation we discovered we had to start from scratch cause it was too complicate!! ARGGG...you know how difficult it is to think up of an experiment from scratch?? All the other tutorial groups were given specific scenarios to choose from except our one!! And our initial guidelines were sooo vague!!!

So my planned lunch was delayed an hour because we needed an urgent group meeting to sort out the mess!! For lunch, our search for Pizza Hut was fruitless. The one that existed behind Maccas a couple of years ago has now been demolished. Hence went back to uni and bought chicken schitzel with turkish bread. It wasn't too bad!

Tae kwon do was good and bad! Sorry F...I think I kinda injured her thumb because when we were doing self defense her thumb got bent backwards! OUCH!!! Hope it heals quickly!! SORRY!!! I feel so bad!!!

Baby Sam's bday

Do you still call one year old babies?? hmm....anyways, a good half of the day was spent at my cousin's place. A little bbq among families and friends. She is sooo cute!! Walking/crawling from one side of the deck to the other. People were trying to make her smile at the camera by making noises and sounds...so funny!

And she took a while to blow out the candle! I think in the end, her daddy blew it out 'with' her...and her parents made some cupcakes with lollipops and 'leaves' sticking out in the middle in little plant buckets!! Too bad I don't have a "digi camera" and can't show you guys! *hint hint*

ATTACK!!!!

Thanks A for such a great day with the company of M, F and L!! Must say though I witnessed some very 'brave' driving today. Okay here goes:

From uni, our aim was to go to the fish market. So off we go heading towards the city. If anyone has ever been to the city you would know all the twists and turns and split roads around. So, driving along, it was too late before we realised we were on the harbour bridge!! Desperately trying to get off we took the first exit but ended up near Lavender Bay. Got a beautiful vantage point of the Harbour Bridge but it wasn't quite the place we were after. Street directory time. Decided to play it safe and headed back to city south. Eventual destination was reached FINALLY!! By that time, everyone was starving esp. since some have not even had breakfast and it was past noon!! Yay, time to celebrate!!

First stop was to find our friend, the salmon. Made a couple of stops but ended up buying it at Christos, along with some really nice seaweed. Our next dilemma was deciding what place to get the seafood platter and which oysters to get. Settled on the shop with the most people for the platter and the Coffin Bay oysters. I reckon that's a great name to put people off - don't know whether if that means people will end up in coffins if they eat too much of them but let's not go there!

Since it was lunch time by the time we got all our food, finding a place to eat was extremely difficult! Second lucky or shall we say, unlucky! Okay, sitting near some smokers were not that bad cause they eventually left. We enjoyed the first 10 minutes of the food..until.....whooosh, duck, whoosh..A flock of seagulls scooped and flew to the table diagonal to us since some people left with the food on the table. Talk about littering or not cleaning after themselves!! First 5 mins was okay except F kept glancing behind.

During that time, F used her culinary skills to cut sashami slices...good effort with a steak knife! But when she let her guard down about the sesagulls, one of them decided to befriend F and a couple drops of who knows what landed on?? or very close to her and the sashami. I swear those seagulls knew what they were doing! Before I thought nicely of seagull but after today I believe they are VERY SCHEMING animals!! Cause when all the attention was focus on F cleaning..hmm....one of the seagulls scooped with its beak the largest piece of uncut salmon!!! WHAT A PIG!!!!! WASTE OF GOOD FOOD!!! Our obvious reaction was 'AHHHHHHH'!!!!!!!!!....

We decided to run for our lives before they had any other cunning plans up their sleeves. One ATTACK was enough for the day!!

After our adventurous encounter with the evil seagulls we headed off to Max Brenner at Double Bay. Yummmm...we drew on our chemistry skills and began mixing a number of different chocolates. No explosions, just resulted in some very rich chocolate! Also first time trying some orchid oil flowered chocolate. Guess it was something different but I prefer the traditional type! Strawberry dipped in choc was my personal best!! The guy recommended souffle but we gave that a miss. I seriously forgot the name of the stuff we had...yup short memory

We were going to walk off some calories after but because there was seafood in the boot of the car..yeah. And I was part of the culprit sorry!! next time next time!! Anyways, thanks for the lift home!!

That's the end of one GREAT FUN day!!! Hope you guys all had as much fun!! Too bad no one had a camera though...

Bargains!!

First purchase at uni for $5 for a sydney morning herald card which allows me to get the paper from Mon-Fri for the rest of the semester...even though I might not read the paper everyday - its a good bargain anyhow!!

Since lecture finished early, decided to go down with F to tae kwon do...okay finally made my decision YAY!!! No backing out this time cause I have already paid for membership and 11-class pass today for $65. Didn't join the class today but will next monday - after some preparation on the weekend!!

Half price for hot beverages from 3-5pm. It was either my stomach or the milk cause both F and I had a tummy ache after drinking our mocha and hot chocolate.

I love my homework this week for health psyc..why?? Because I have to go to Oportos to find out their nutritional value for the food there and consequently means it will be my first time trying it out!! Have a excuse to eat out!!

Bus

This evening when sitting in the bus whilst waiting for the change of bus driver...the new driver exclaimed before coming on board: "It's a Volvo. I never expected it". It immediately reminded me of the "bloody volvo" ad that never seemed to make any sense to me. Anyway, he was referring to the bus that I was on. It's a rather new bus with comfy seats but the really annoying thing was everytime when the back door was opened for more than a couple of secs it would start beeping!!

Nothing much happened today...went hurstville in the morning and had brunch..discovered a newly opened shop near Saint Honore which sells chinese dvds. We went in but within minutes came back out. Guess that says how interested we were.

yippee!! I can now safely say that our 3 hour lecture on tuesday will end in 2 hours for most weeks for the rest of the semester!!

Monday, August 08, 2005

Doh!!

Crappy...the comment counter got reset!! But at least the comments are still in there!!

Dodgy morning followed by a nice afternoon! Guess good always compliments the bad. Thanks for lunch V...the tiredness definitely hit me when I got home. Next time without the extra 'luggage' would be even better! Interesting stats about the social life at unsw...haha. I'm in the minority for now Oh did I mention the tiramisu-in-a-cup at City Extra?? yummm....

Whoops forgot I have to wake up early tomorrow...better start cracking on my tut work...totally forgot about it. See what 'window' shopping do to people...makes them have temporary amnesia!!

Tae Kwon Do

As expected...my plan of doing yoga will not eventuate..instead will be doing tae kwon do again. Fingers crossed I won't jinx myself and back out of it again..haha. First training starts this Tuesday. Ten minutes of treadmill has already given me sore back muscles..makes me wonder. I walk with my legs not with my back but somehow its my back that hurts!!

Oh yeah...finally tried one of the Lindt truffles that I bought last week! It was quite good despite having been in the fridge for a good half of a week - crispy chocolate with a soft centre. But as 'experts' have said, nothing beats fresh chocolate. So next time I'll try it without putting it in the fridge!!

The Wedding Planner

No better way to finish off an unproductive day than with "The Wedding Planner". I actually enjoyed the movie!! Some good laughs and sad moments too I guess..head-strong, confident control freak...putting everyone ahead of herself and all....so sweet! But then again it's a typical hollywood movie with a typical ending

Buggered...

I don't know how I did it..but once again procrastinated the whole day away. Have been disconnecting, reconnecting, checking the same sites over and over again. Reading the same words over and over....but time rolls on. The sun is now setting. The room is getting darker by the minute. A chill is starting to build up in the room...or rather inside of me. A shiver runs up my spine. Glancing at my watch I see the second hand moving. Everything around me is moving; my head is pounding, my heart is beating. The only thing that has remained the same all day is the number of words I have written on the page. I seem to be waiting for something but I don't know what that something is. Intangible or tangible - I have no idea. I think the day I figure it out is the day that I will stop procrastinating.....

Horoscopes...

Sometimes horoscopes depict feelings and events that are spot on!! Here is an example...

Aries

Even though the Moon is Void there is still plenty going on that is favourable. An excellent day to plan your annual holiday, what you plan today should work out very well. Get out and about today; it'll settle any restlessness you're feeling. What is important to remember today is that those who feel they have power won't be afraid to use it. These people are best avoided today!

Maybe that's why I'm feeling so restless...something to do with planetary alignment??

Restlessness

You know that feeling where nothing can hold your concentration or attention for more than 20 mins?? Well that is what has been happening for the past week..the effect of uni or something else? I'm not sure. Hopefully it will pass soon!!

Arghhhhhhhh.....

Nothing much...

These two days have been pretty mundane...nothing interesting has really happened. In fact, its been so boring that I don't even remember what I have done these past two days!! So much for having a two hour lab when it lasted for less than an hour!!

Eventful day!

Its been a rather interesting and funny day!

After psyc lecture, Fi and I went to blockhouse to get some stuff. On our way to upper campus we decided we wanted to get ice chocolate. So our first stop was Esme..went to the outside counter and we were told we had to go inside for ice chocolate. so inside we went and queued..when it was our turn, the lady asked what we wanted...
us: "do we order drinks here",
lady: "yup or you can order outside too",
us: "we were told to come in here",
lady: "what do you want",
us: "we want cold drink"
lady: "its behind you in the fridge"
us: "no we want ice chocolate"
lady: "oh...order at the cash register"

at the cash register:
us: "can i have an ice chocolate?"
man: "sorry no ice mocha"
us: "no, ice chocolate"
man: "sorry no ice chocolate"

so much for queuing up...next we went to mat but cause no one was lining up we decided to go java...

man: "what do you want?"
us: "can we order?"
man: "water is behind you"
us: "no, can we order?"
man: "water is behind you"
us: "NO! c a n w e o r d e r i c e c h o c o l a t e?"

Finally we got our ice chocolate which actually turned up to be more of a milkshake!!

Now, that's not the end of our adventure...

Walking to our accounting tut, we saw a girl in front of us limping..and fi was so happy that she could walk faster than her because of her injured knee...after 'overtaking' we turned around and as it turned out we knew the limping girl!!

Finally, went to the bus stop..discovered my bus had already left and ran back to the bus Fi and Vicks were catching. It said CENTRAL EXPRESS...onto anzac parade it went but instead of turning into cleveland st. it continued along anzac parade towards darlinghurst! What the??...Vicks pressed the bell and the bus driver who must have just woken up did a detour back to central. Well that's kind of the end of my exciting day..actually kind of feeling a bit sick now...

More Lindt

Lindt cafe

Went to have 'chocolate' with Jan at Lindt cafe at Martin Place. Think a sit down drinks would have been much nicer..hehe. Cause today was kinda like buy drinks, chocolate and leave.

Mr Zumbo has a very, maybe 'too' democratic way of making the class choose seminar topics for presentation. There are 27 topics altogether. This is how it goes:
1) Round 1: he goes through the list from 1 to 27
2) if one group votes for it - they get it
3) if two groups votes for it - flip the coin - head or tails
4) if more than two groups - none gets it
5) Round 2: same as the above but if more than two groups - sudden death i.e. each pair of different groups flips the coin and the loser is eliminated

Can't believe we stayed for an extra hour in order to get our seminar topics!!

Should have left some chocolates for you F ...mum thought they were only so so...I still haven't tried it...leaving them for mum and sis - next time next time...

Yoga

I 'think' I'm gonna enrol in yoga this semester on thursday 1-2pm...something different...anyone want to join?? but will probably end up backing out again but anyway...

I don't understand why my concentration span is so short. What a normal person can complete in 2 hours, I need at least 2 days - actually more. Arggg I'm finding it so frustrating. I can concentrate on everything that is not work related. My time management skills are pooooor. Plans don't seem to work for me. I've been thinking about working in the library too but whenever class finishes the first thing in my mind is heading home! I need to reassess my priorities...FAST!!!

It's annoying to know that people who are working or are involved in so many extra curricular activities make so much better use of their time!! If only I could learn from them....

August

Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!

Did more photocopying this morning...had only one hour lecture so drove to uni. What time did you get to lecture F? I saved you a seat until quarter past cause by then I wasn't sure whether or not you were going to turn up and someone was asking if the seat was free....hmmm...

Anyways, now a good half of the day gone already...gonna go walking a bit later in the arvo.

Minutes to Fame in Australia

For those who are interested

From Asian Fanatics

Low productivity

Ah...this happens every semester. Always in week 1 you go to yourself, ok..this semester I'll waste less time, spend less time at the computer and work harder!! BUT it NEVER seems to work. Friday went out, Saturday watched tv, Sunday online...

Was meant to finish my health psyc assignment so I could lend the book to Fi...but its not even half completed!! Don't worry, I'll still bring the book tmr but I'll probably need it back asap...

Mornings just seem to slip by so quickly, so silently...you hardly realise its the afternoon if you don't look at the clock. And when the night comes, you dread the following day knowing that the events will be a carbon copy of the previous day...

Happy Birthday Lola!

Best wishes!!

Legend of Speed

Didn't have much expectation before watching the film. But comparing it to Initial D I think I actually prefer Legend of Speed! Its not a new film but its the first time I've seen it! I can't be bothered writing a review/spoilers but here's one from LoveHK Film

Despite the cheesiness of story and the formulaic Rocky plot, this commercial actioner from Andrew Lau and alter ego Ekin Cheng is an enjoyable, entertaining ride.

Cheng is Sky, a spoiled brat who races cars illegally on HK’s city streets. He receives his comeuppance when his girlfriend Moon (Kelly Lin) dies during an important race with the top underground racer (Simon Yam). When he’s framed for various crimes, Sky flees to Thailand and searches for his dad (Blackie Ko), a legendary racer who disappeared when Sky was just a youngster. Once in Thailand, Sky learns hackneyed life lessons and Karate Kid metaphors which allow him redemption and passage back to HK just in time to win the big race.

If only life were as simple as a BOB production. This is a tried-and-true formula that’s been done to death in Lau and Cheng’s previous Young and Dangerous movies. Nothing new here, just enjoyable commercial fluff which should be enough to please most of the fans. This is a welcome return for Andrew Lau, who brings back some of the stylish verve that he couldn’t use in such earnest epics as A Man Called Hero.

Furthermore, the presence of blazing new star Cecilia Cheung as Sky’s biggest admirer can only help things. With her rough voice and appealing innocence, she brings a freshness to the movie that Lau’s usual starlets Shu Qi and Kristy Yeung would be hard-pressed to match. That said, Lau reuses some of his more familiar faces, such as Jerry Lamb and the aforementioned Blackie Ko. This movie is basically Young and Dangerous on wheels, which isn’t such a bad thing when you consider Ekin Cheng’s limited dramatic range. As commercial HK Cinema goes, this is a better-than-average effort. (Kozo 1999)

Shopping

Shopping at Hurstville today. Tried the cafe opposite HMV. The service was really good. The cake and hot chocolate was not bad! Have a headache. Must be too much walking! Witnessed a post-crash scene just outside the shopping centre with ambulance and police cars. Guess the crash wasn't too bad. Just a guy had his head bandaged.

Grumpy

Nice weather. Went to officeworks to photocopy this morning. Still trying to change classes but no one is giving up their space!

In a grumpy mood. Annoyed at myself!!!

Timetable

My dodgy 5 day uni timetable!

Mr Zumbo

We have the funkiest lecturer this semester for marketing and distributive law. Mr Zumbo is the lecturer. Frank Zumbo. I won't say its the most bludgy subject but it definitely has one of the more humourous lecturers around. He doesn't even expect everyone to turn up to class every week! Today's lecture was meant to be 3 hours and we finished after one. And he cracks jokes that are actually funny!

Went yum cha with aunty and uncle before uni. The bill today (5 people) was even cheaper than when we went to North Ryde (3 people) for yum cha...

Monday, July 25, 2005

First day of uni

Well not too eventful. Separation from my twin for 2 psychology classes!! Ouch that hurts Its kinda funny actually, the first and last semesters are the only ones for the entire 4 years where our timetables were not identical.

Anyone have break on wednesday 1-2pm??

Lola's party!

L hope you liked our pressies and had a fun day!! Yesterday went out with mum to buy present. Went to buy flowers this morning. Had lunch at Excelsior! Good to catch up with high school friends. Played seseame street UNO and Big 2 at Lola's place. Haven't played either of these card games for ages!!

Time for Jackie Chan's "The Tuxedo" now!

Cruising

I wish it was the sea and boat type but no its cruising in a car. Went to North Ryde for yum cha. Car had flat battery. Had to call NRMA and then was told to keep the car running for an hour. On our way home, bypassed sydney harbour tunnel through ED, M5, out at bevo, hurstville through to southgate, taren point, ramsgate and then home. Our ultimate plan of going to Macquarie Centre didn't happen. Guess that will have to wait till next time.

Expectations

Just something to ponder about....Sometimes I reckon that the more you look forward to something or the more you expect something to happen - it never does or at least it rarely happens according to your plans. On the converse, things happen when you least expect. I wonder why! How would life turn out if everything was predictable? I once read somewhere which said something like if we were to wait until we were 100% sure before taking any action we won't make any choices at all.

Jigsaw

Yay! Bought 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle today for $10...running out of walls to hang these jigsaws! Can't start on it yet though cause have to buy a board to put it on first. Only one more week of holidays left. Don't want uni to start yet! Cooking aint all that bad afterall. Very satisfied when things turn out well but very disappointed if it turns out bad. Being slobby again. Haven't been keeping up with daily exercise.

Dust dust dust

Those are the only words I could use to describe our garage. Finally dusted out the garage. That also meant moving more rubbish from my room to the garage. The end effect is to create a less cluttered room but somehow it still seems the same.

Update

About time to update. Have watched Love Bond and currently watching The Bronze Teeth II and My Family.

Watched Initial D. Quite liked the movie despite the storyline revolving mainly around racing rivalries. Some funny moments which made it enjoyable!

Watched Queen on the Bay by myself. Yeah guess that wasn't as fun but nonetheless the fireworks made up for it. Sat for 3 hours before it began - eating wind.

Yippee!

Finally got my hands on some much long awaited tapes to keep me company. So don't be surprised if I stage a disappearance over the next two weeks. It would just probably mean that I'm 'stuck' in front of the tv....I shall begin my video marathon in the next couple of minutes!

Finale

Was finishing off the series yesterday. A typical happy family ending. Too bad real life stories are not always like that. Maybe that's what life is all about. Its the ups and downs that make life so fascinating. Never knowing what to expect or happen. So many choices and consequences....or is life what Macbeth says it is - 'a story told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing'. For some strange reason this quote have stayed with me since year 12. Can you really choose your own destiny or is it all predetermined no matter what you do or what choices you make?

Injection!

Ouch! Got the flu shot so hopefully won't get sick anytime soon! Another cold, gloomy and boring day! I'm getting bored of my own complaints!! I'll try to cut down on it but I really can't help it because I keep myself occupied by complaining. How sad...haha. Living life in the slow lane at the moment....

My driving hasn't really improved. Still scared sometimes about not staying in my own lane and driving when there is a lot of traffic. Argghh...don't like it when I'm driving around truckies or buses either.

Boring as...

Can't be bothered going out so have been staying at home. Yup I jinxed myself. Haven't been walking either for the past 2 days. Reverting back to my usual lazy self! Aint a lot that you can do at home but yeah...feeling tired, bored and dry. Must be the effect of overcast weather. My task of cleaning my room is still in progress - probably done around 30%??? The dust is once again covering my desk - a dustless desk does not last at all! Not very motivated in doing housework!

Frustrated when you want to talk to people but don't know what to say. Oh well. Some people just have a knack of talking whilst others are just so...'lost'. Probably the best solution is burying myself at home like I am now Well hope everyone is enjoying themselves!! At least I have the good old tv to keep me sane!

There were so many things before the holidays that I said I would or want to do. But now when the holiday is here, I don't feel like doing anything. Part of human nature? Never satisfy with what you have until its gone? I'm sounding so philosophical.....once the holiday is over I'll be complaining that I want the holidays again! The cycle just continues.....

Close call

Nearly crashed today as I was leaving the curb...no comment

Almost made a jacket purchase...really liked it but the stitching wasn't that good so reluctantly left!

Lets just say its not my lucky day today...feeling sick again....not in a happy mood tonight..buggar!

Currently listening to this song - titled 'are you happy enough?' by Alex Fong....testing out rapidshare

Alex Lee Hom Wang

Credits to Asian Fanatics

Taiwan superstar performer Alex Lee-Hom Wang has come away from a successful tour stop in Malaysia.

During this year's tour, white dragons lined the sides of the center stage projection, melding his talents and Chinese culture.

The show brought motivated fans from Taiwan, Japan and Singapore.

Lee-Hom played many kinds of musical instruments including piano, drum, violin and the urheen. His talent for music has best been presented to the audience over his unbelievable 10 year career.

In addition to singing a lot of famous songs such as "In Faraway Places" and "Impossible to Miss You", Lee-Hom also performed danced, winning passionate applause from the whole audience.

Its pretty amazing..such a great talent!!! How often do you see people play the 'ee wu' in concerts these days??? I want to learn the violin too! But somehow I don't think that's gonna happen. Oh well...I guess I'll just have to suffice by listening to other violinists!!

Nothing thrilling

Guess nothing much has happened over the past 2 days. Have been at home watching some old tapes...A Herbalist Affair. It's quite good cause I've forgotten the storyline since it was from a couple of years ago. So far have kept up with my beach walking!! Yay!!

Madagascar rocks!!

Had lunch and watched Madagascar with Lola and Leanna! Must say it was one of the funniest 'animations' that I have seen in ages!! Alex was the cutest!!!

Can't help but to provide a synposis from the Madagascar site SPOILERS below so if you want to watch it then do NOT read further!!!

Alex the Lion is the king of the urban jungle as the main atraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo have lived their entire lives in blissful captivity, complete with lavish meals and their own park views.

Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty allows his curiosity to get the better of him and, with the help of some prodigious penguins, makes his escape to explore the world he's been missing, intending to return before the morning. In the middle of the night, Alex, Melman and Gloria discover their friend missing and decide the only course of action is to break out of the zoo and get Marty back home before anyone notices they're gone.

Even in New York, a lion, giraffe and hippopotamus wandering the streets and riding the subway are bound to attract some attention. Alex, Melman and Gloria manage to track Marty down in Grand Central Station, but before they can catch the train home, they are darted, captured, crated and put on a ship to Africa by well-meaning humans who think they should be freed from the stress of New York life.

When those plotting penguins sabotage the ship, Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria find themselves washed ashore on the exotic island of Madagascar. Now, these native New Yorkers have to figure out how to survive in the wild and discover the true meaning of the phrase "It's a jungle out there".

I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a good laugh!!!

Home...mostly

I think my 'home' routine is pretty much the same each time...my day has been beach walking but because it was overcast this arvo, we didn't walk as long just in case it started raining, playing piano, reading magazines - or rather looking at pictures since its in chinese and tv. Doesn't get all that exiciting! Oh well...guess the exercising doesn't do me any justice since I just devoured half a packet of CCs.

Friday, July 01, 2005

Vroommm.....

Had a pretty full day today. Began the day with a walk along the beach! Yay...I kept to my word that I will exercise! Hope that it will continue for the next 3 weeks... My driving destinations today were: home -> fish market -> bexley north -> home -> miranda -> caringbah -> home. The most I have driven in one day. Quite proud of my achievement

BORED!!!

Literally screaming with boredom here!! No one online, nothing to do, no tapes to watch, no one to talk to...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! any suggestions as to what i could do??? The dodgy weather doesn't help either!

Hair cut

woke up at 6am this morning. i'm adapting to very strange routines this holidays! played the piano - yay! surprise that I could still 'fumble' my way through some of the songs!! went to hurstville again - second day in a row - wonder if i would make it a trifecta tomorrow. anyways, attempted the leila haircut but as expected it didn't quite turn out. in fact...hmmmmm.....no comment. it should be ok in 3 months time when it grows out! again time for lunch!

Mini ipod

Drove to Hurstville. No crashes so I guess that was ok! I just got a mini ipod today. well not really for me but for my sis. But over here sis property = my property

What happened to me cleaning my room? I guess I can do it later! Think I will be occupied with the Ipod for a while once my sis decides to open the package.

MP, F or anyone wanna watch Madagascar on Sunday with Lola, Leanna and me?

Should go and eat lunch now!

Soaking up the atmosphere

I've been awake for a whole 24 hours since yesterday 3am...why am I still awake at 3am when I don't have tapes to keep me company or any studying to do?? I should have said goodnight and hit the sack ages ago. But instead, here I am just trying to soak up the wonderful feeling of not having to do or worry about doing anything. Maybe its the side effect to an over stressed/under slept person. Actually I guess I haven't really been losing that much sleep. Apart from last night I had at least 6-7 hours but I'm just one of those people who need at least 8-9 hours - 10 being ideal -before I can function properly. Plan for later today will be to clean my room. I have an inkling that it might not happen and that I would end up doing something totally different to cleaning. I think I'm feeling the lack of sleep now...my head tells me to sleep otherwise I will wake up with a splitting headache. Okay, enough for now. Yes you can tell I'm bored. Talking about nothing.

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Finally!!! So relieved its all over!!! For this semester anyway. It was so funny, one of the guys in the exam room screamed 'woohoo' right at the end cause it was his last uni exam ever.

Of course I didn't go straight home after a month rotting at home! Took a while to persuade F to come to dinner with B and me but succeeded in the end. Ate at Ramen. Couldn't decide what to eat - settled on terayaki fish. Next time I should stay away from terayaki cause that's all I ever order. Glad it wasn't raining and it was quite warm as well which was really good!

Train delay on the way home....

Now...what should I do for the next three weeks??...hmmmmmm....

All alone

Everyone in the house has gone to bed! I want to sleep too! But there's still so much to be done. The next question is why am I still online? I don't have an answer for that - maybe because I got bored of studying. A bit less than 40 hours before its all finish. Was gonna pull an all nighter but don't think that's gonna happen since I'm already yawning like crazy!! I should shut up now once again for the next 40 hours.

It's kinda like doing the 40 hour famine...haha..but instead of starving myself I'll starve my net craving. Seriously I don't know what's so good about the net - not that there's anything utterly fascinating that I have to be on like at least 5 hours every day. I'm glad my download limit is unlimited - since the change from 400mb to unlimited, my monthly download is over a gig - and I don't even have cable. I have no idea what I download either. Not that many songs and I don't even download movies!! It's just all a mystery I guess.

I hear my bed calling, I hear my notes calling, I hear....tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock ..........

Yum Cha

Yum cha this morning in the comfort of our home without the crowd and noise in the restaurant. Very filling but very oily.

Now: very tired and very clueless!

Mrs Fields

Heard of Mrs Fields? If you're a cookie lover I would recommend it...in the food court in Town Hall - just had some 'semi sweet chocolate and macademia cookie'. Quite nice! My amount of time spent blogging might suggest how much work I'm getting done...sigh....

Lost

Don't know how to study for tax cause there's so much you seem to have to know!! Don't really know where to start. Have approx 2.5 days left to study for it. I'm so confused! All those legislation sections and text reading. I don't think I'll even touch the textbook! Aii...yup me at it again. Complaining to the max!

Friday, June 24, 2005

Feeling weird....

Just had one of those exams where you think things will be ok since you were given the actual exam format. But upon entering the exam room you start feel to weird and by the end of the three hours you feel that its taken so much outta you. Have a sick feeling in my stomach now. Don't know why...not good.

On the other hand there's this funny argument (not quite) happening in the discussion forum of our psyc course - post exam discussion! This is coming from the lecturer:

"i'm afraid that looks like a mistake, as i was to have lectured on
those topics, but now that you mention it, i'm not sure i ever did.
i'm going to go back and look at my notes, but if i didn't get to
those studies, then i'll remove those two items from the exam."

and one from a student:
There were two questoins in there for social about the effect of your name and being
born near Christmas ... I never heard of either of these ... has anyone else?

and yet another student:
Yes, it was not in the prescribed textbook readings either, if it was in forgas then that
shouldnt of been in there ... I reckon this is a rehash of last yrs exam and someone
forgot to mention it in lectures ...

Cold

It is freezing or what...definitely feeling the winter chill now. What have I been doing? Should be studying but really have not been able to concentrate. Instead just eating ice cream and download songs - funny I'm complaining that its cold.

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

Retrograde

Argghh...have reverted back to my procrastinating self again! Have done nothing all night - haven't even had dinner yet and its 10pm. Time flies when you not even having fun..apart from blogging and replying to comments! Have headache but could I really cram stats in one day? I'll have a think about that one...

2 more!

The thought of having 2 exams is daunting and studying for it is a pain cause once you study one subject you kinda forget the stuff of the other. But once its out of the way its such a relief! Yippee! I can say two down in one day!! One more on friday and the FINAL one on Tuesday....6 days to go. I'm just counting down to the final moment of the semester and then I'm freeeeee.

Fi why do you always disappear on me? TWICE today!! Right before entering the exam and right afterwards!! I was walking in front of you and was about to turned around to say something but instead find you missing...oh well. Don't remember what I wanted to say anyway..hehe.

Monday, June 20, 2005

Eeeeeeeeek!!

Less than 48 hours before exams and I'm still online. Don't think it can get any worse than this! All I want to do is concentrate but why is it sooooo hard??? I really should stop checking out those forums for at least a couple of days...come on..only 8 days until its all over!! I'm just trying to psych myself up. Aiii...this is driving me insane! Wouldn't it be nice to have a black out then I won't be able to come online?? Crazy thoughts and ideas clouding my mind. It should be filled with audit and social psychology knowledge, not about.....ok I'll have another attempt at studying by sitting at my desk. You shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon, you shall not be hearing from me any time soon.........

lets see what my record would be - starting from this moment as in Monday 20/6/05 at 3.13pm...

Happy to help!

Yes yes I know I should be studying and not minding other people's business! But I can't help it. Some people are just so plain rude!!

This was a conversation on tagboard between people on tvbspace and nosy me decided to join in. To put things in context, its about Ray, Kevin and Ron's recent trip to Malaysia:

wind: i saw ray, ron and kevin!! Ray is so so cute!!!!

mcelvay: to wind: HEY TELL US MORE ABOUT THE EVENT WHERE RON WAS AT..DID U TAKE ANY PICS?? CAN POST UP HERE FOR US TO SEE!!!

heheai: to wind: Really? That's great then! Did you take any photos? Haha

heheai: to WIND:Oh my god, really envy you! Did you get the chance up close with them or by any chance take photos with them? Fill us in with the details if you can! Thanks ya!

wind: so sorry to dissapoint u guys...i didnt take any pictures...my god it was really really packed there..i could hardly breathe in the crowd...they were pushing ans it was really hard for me to get a clear look at three of them.

wind: haha..but i was lucky cause i saw the rehearsal part..and that was even a closer view than in the concert itself...ray was so playful and cheerful ...laughing all the time...he wuz so cute!...and he looks great wearing those glasses.

wind: *disappoint *they were pushing and -sorry for the errors..i was typing too fast..

to wind: did you really saw raymond, ron and kevin? beacuse something tells me that you didn't see them. you're just making things up. who agrees with me?

I agree: i totally agree with you. It just doesn't make sense why someone would go to a concert especially one with the stars and not take any picture. It's just my opinion.

I agree 2: Its not that often that stars like Ron, Ray, and Kevin come to your country for a concert, it doesnt make sense not to take pics.

I Agree 3: lol. I think 'wind' is not telling the truth.

TY: give wind a break.. ppl might be afraid of getting their cameras taken away.

toni: i don't think wind is telling the truth. first of all, he/she is not giving enough information. 2nd of all, why wouldn't he/she bring a camera? he/she is not telling the truth. "wind" sounds more like a liar.

Rita : Does it really matter that much that he is telling the truth. You know not everyone brings theie cameras to take pictures. Even if he didn't give alot of information about it doesn''t mean that he is lying. Give him a break!

wind: anyone else who went to the concert should know that it was realy really crowded...it's difficult for me to take the pics.... okie...i'll give u details...he was wearing a grey t-shirt when we was rehearsing..he sang "realise".. he's hair was a little brown and he wore glasses..

wind: *when he was rehearsing.. and to tell the truth it was really really packed!!! ppl are there more to see hacken lee ...alan tam..

wind: so do u think it's really possible to get pictures of them?? do u think it's just their concert? come on, there were lots of other stars there as well..

al: hey wing i can prove your innocence check out this site - [LINK] (credits to mindy) - your description of ray was spot on! i think some ppl owe you an apology...i wish i was there!

wind: thanks al!! Thanks to rita and TY too.... i felt stupid spending my time telling u ppl about ray when u ppl think i was telling a lie...anyway, now it seems that some ppl believe in me... just have to say again..ray was so playful..and that really makes him look so cute!!!

I'm not saying that one shouldn't have their one views - but saying that someone is a liar might be stretching it a bit....

Why bother

Don't know why I even bother blogging when there's nothing to say. Maybe it's just a way of saying and reminding myself that each time I look at this, I should be spending my time doing something more productive!! This current moment: overwhelmed by work not done!!

Have exam on Wednesday and lecture notes are still not up yet...that's a bit slack isn't it? Where are you F??

Saturday, June 18, 2005

Frustrated...

I was SOOO sure that I saved my work in word. I don't even remember closing the file either. But when I re-opened the file, half the stuff I typed up disappeared!! WT??? Half of my work for the night all gone within 2 seconds. Not typing up notes anymore!! Arghhhhhh!!!!!

Record breaker!

For those who don't know, I have a habit of having late dinners. Having dinner at 5pm is probably one of the earliest dinners in a longgggggg time. But it doesn't end here. Had KFC for dinner. Another one of the rare days. Probably haven't had KFC for dinner for at least 10 years. Two unusuals in a day - not bad! After watching Sydney Weekender I feel like going out and about!!

Routine update

Guess I did a bit of work today but struggling with my concentration again!! Questions about psyc...F check icq!..hehe. Seems like my eyesight is getting worse...things looking blurry. Must go and get it checked in the holidays. Hopefully I'll survive the year without going blind. Mum always go I read to close. Maybe I do but just can't help it! It feels more comfortable that way!

Is it getting colder or is it just me? Its very cold in the house. My face is feeling very dry and scaly. Make myself sound like a reptile...haha. Red rashes coming up. Sleeping late these days but also means waking up VERY late. My whole morning basically disappears. Was meant to wake up 2 hours earlier than I actually did. Oh well.

I think I'm addict to those discussion forums...3 particular ones to be precise and a couple of other websites too. Can't help it! Geez, did I say that phrase twice in one blogging!! CAN'T HELP IT! I shall now indulge in a bit of ice cream and chocolate. So what if its bad for me...can't help it!! Self control is sometimes almost impossible!!

Friday, June 17, 2005

Sigh...

I guess everyone else is doing exactly what I 'should' be doing i.e. offline studying HARD!!!! Good on ya guys!! Can't say the same for me...

Ahhhh...just knocked my cup of tea over! Its all good - no electrocution...actually maybe some electrocution might spark some sense into me.

Hope you had fun shopping Lola?...haha. I'm psychic - I just happen to know that you were at hurstville today and I didn't even leave the house!!

Ahh...I'm loosing it. Talking about nothing. Back to study!!

New ink

Mr Canon bubblejet decided to run out of ink today...it always tend to do that during stuvac! Had 2 refills at home that it wasn't too much of a drama. Maybe I should get more ink since its 15% storewide at kmart today.

Cuteeeeeee song!

I'd love to share a song with you guys. Too bad I don't know how to upload songs in here. Don't think that its even possible. Well not with my 'technical expertise'. The singing is not great but the lyrics is real cute. Well it made me crack up so badly the first time I heard it - a very cute 'kiddies' song. A great stress relief!!!

If you can be bothered just go to:

Mechanical failure

This human has once again switched onto procrastination mode. Work mode seemed to have stalled. The key is jammed. It constantly switches automatically from p mode to eating mode and back to p mode again. Needs serious mechanical maintenance. Engaging in emergency services at the moment. Hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow morning at the very latest. Each minute the machine is on procrastination mode, the cost increases exponentially. Need to speed up service!!

Lonely morning

Parents out so home alone this morning. Managed to get an hour's worth of work done. Not good but still an improvement I guess. Lunch by myself. Cannot be bothered with the pots and pans so resorted to sargent's chicken pie. Into the microwave for 2 minutes, topped with tomato sauce and ready to be put right into my mouth. Quick, easy and clutter free!!

Complaint no more....

I know it must be so annoying always hearing me complain. But this shall be my last posting of pre-exam complaints - so I'll make the most of it. I just can't seem to concentrate. I don't think I've sat at my desk for 30 mins without getting distracted or doing something else. My current concentration span is at an ultra low level. I've tried disconnecting the internet, switching off the pc, going to different rooms and music vs no music but nothing seem to work. You would think after 7 semesters of exam preparations that I would have learnt something or at least improved on my techniques but apparently not. I would have to say that this is the worse semester thus far in terms of getting things done and concentrating.

Made my first ever posting on a discussion forum of B. Wong - just wanted to get a song but I doubt I'll get any replies on that. Oh well. Had a block of lindt choc, some rice crackers, an apple, checked my blog prob like 5 times, read smh, went on and off icq/msn 5 times, checked email 5 times (almost) and played piano all within the space of 2 hours. By the way, dont know why I choose the number 5. Maybe cause it just sounds like 'hmmmm' with connatations of 'nothing accomplished' - for me anyway.

Lost

I could have sworn I had my notes on the desk last week. Yeah it's been that long since I've touched it. But it mysteriously went on a walkabout and now I can't find it. Whenever you need things, it's always missing. Whenever you don't need it, it always appear right in your face...

Stressed and unhappy...

In a pretty bad mood tonight. Maybe it's dawning on me now that I've really been doing nothing for the past couple of days - which are pretty vital to me. I know it would be over in 14 days but I feel like I can't cope. Suffocating...maybe its not that bad but words seem to have their own interpretations. Sometimes things don't turn out like they are suppose to. Sometimes wondering whether you're taking the right path or whether you've ventured off onto a path that will eventually bring you more problems than otherwise. I don't know what I'm rambling about. I'm wondering if this makes sense to anyone - and if so is it because you're so depressed as well? Well I hope everyone else is enjoying life or at least making much more out of it than me at the moment.

Maybe a bit of sleep will do me good...

Contemplating haircut

OMG....I think I'm going crazy. I'm definitely taking extreme measures to avoid studying!!! Have you ever tried cutting out a pic of yourself and placing it on top of another face to see whether a haircut suits you or not? Well I haven't until tonight. Used poor Leila as my model...hehe. Thinking of something like this in the holdays. I wont put up the superimposed image just in case someone is eating their dinner whilst reading this. Any suggestions??

No mood...

Not really in the blogging mood...maybe cause I'm starting to stress out now!

Just a preliminary plan for the holidays:

The annual Winter Concert Series returns to Darling Harbour this July, with three wondrous nights celebrating three unique musical styles. And they're all FREE!

Revel in the brilliant music created by those great 20th century composers, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin and performed by the acclaimed Sydney Concert Orchestra. Opera Australia will provide another superb evening of highlights from its current season, including HMS Pinafore and Verdi's Nabucco. Direct from sell-out shows overseas, come along and witness the remarkable musical tribute Queen - It's a Kinda Magic. Each concert also features a glittering themed fireworks finale.

Saturday 2 July - Bernstein and Gershwin on the Bay.
Saturday 9 July - Opera on the Bay.
Saturday 16 July - Queen on the Bay.

All the action will be centre stage on the Aquashell floating stage at Cockle Bay from 7pm to 8pm. So rug up, bring the family and take a seat in the stunning outdoor setting that is Cockle Bay's Amphitheatre.

Would love to go to at least one of these - prob the 16/7??...I would probably ask around and see who's interested later since no one probably reads this anymore..haha. Hopefully some will be interested...ask your friends...the more the merrier..

Plain day

Nothing all that interesting happened today. Which is good in a way. So many things started but none that has been completed. Audit lecture ended up being only 45 mins cause we were meant to watch a video but the video player inside the lecture room was 'missing'...haha.

Have a headache now. Hope I'm not getting sick...

Walking

How embarrassing...press the bus bell one stop too early. If it wasn't for V I would have gotten off at the earlier stop..haha. Intended to go to kinko's near museum to photocopy notes but I couldn't find the place. The Kinko place is now called 'fed ex kinko' and the price has gone up from 6.5c to 9c per page!! Told ya so that 'kinko' is NOT there! Walked down to World Square. So many different entrances - ended up walking in circles. Then met up with F and headed down to Town Hall Officeworks. Much better at 7c per page..haha. After all that headed back to uni for class.

Lunch!

Lunch! Yup what's the big deal?? I cooked my first bowl of udon noodles today...haha. To many people that is probably nothing but for someone that doesn't cook that a big accomplishment in itself.

Wasted the whole day

Again a very unproductive day. Stayed online all day doing nothing. Ended up having a conversation through email....Gmail is confusing when you have so many threads.

Downloaded Trillian - a program which allows you to run icq and msn at the same time. Personally I prefer the individual programs because the emoticons on trillian are quite ugly..haha. But if you're interested you can check out http://www.trillian.cc/. Also checked out the tarot site. Think that's about all I did.

Oh yeah and ate heaps of junk including heaven vanilla&choc icecream, sargent's pie, chocolate, kettle chips and some fried stuff...that's probably about as bad as it can get.

More shopping!!

Went through the M5 today..was bumper to bumper for a considerable time at 2:30pm. The exhaust air in the tunnel was really bad. Practically gasping for air once out of the tunnel.

I feel surprisingly awake despite just having 3 hours sleep last night. Even had the energy for shopping today. Just if money came as easily as it goes...sigh...

Early rise

Set my alarm at 3am...then 3:30am and then final call at 4am. It's the earliest I've waken up in a very long time. Enjoying the crisp cool air, completing the last half of my assignment which is to be due at 4pm today. Got lecture at 1pm so hopefully will finish before then. Just thought I'll blog this memorable moment. There shall be many more of these moments to come in the near future...

SMILE!!!

According to Dale Carnegie, Friends and Influence People, "a smile says 'I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you". Makes me wonder...we sometimes smile at strangers but its just a natural reaction isn't it?? It's mere politeness is it not?? But of course I'm always glad to see my friends!!!

Procrastination...

Despite the fact that I have an assignment due tommorrow, I just can't seem to concentrate. My fingers guided me to the hoyts site and here I am checking out all the up-coming movies. Wanna watch Star Wars, Mr & Mrs Smith and Monster-In-Law - after the 28 June. Anyone interested let me know!!

Shopping slurge

For someone who usually buys stuff only once in a blue moon, these past two week has been truely unbelievable. My clothing purchases and gifts included 2 pants, 2 tops and one evening dress (don't even ask me what in the world for..cause I don't know myself) hmmm...any weddings coming up? The dress might come in handy..haha.

First winter day...

A considerably warm winter's day. Beautiful weather!

I actually concentrated in a 1/3 of the tax lecture today without falling asleep. Amazing!! But that's probably cause I have to present my tutorial next week. Passed out the flyers about the Women Seminar for SIFE in lecture for you...

Lunch was funny even though it was only for half an hour...I was tortured by B and V as they had their hot steaming bowl of noodles whilst I had to suffice with my cold sandwich and water...fully shaking. Comforting to know that I wasn't missing out on too much though as pavillion food seems to be deteriorating - bland food apparently..haha..soggy egg noodle with semi-full topping compared with rice noodles and 'full' topping. Dressing up as guys. Rather interesting...
