Things are not always what they seem....

Google Earth image from SMH

What do you think it is?? An optical illusion, a bus shelter, a pergola, a hole in the ground or a car hovering above the ground in a suburban Perth car park?? Some things may look like one thing but be in actual fact be something totally different...

Young or Old??

A nice little story to begin the new year...

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."

Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later...

Some people come into our lives and quickly go…

Some people
become friends
and
stay awhile...
leaving beautiful
footprints on our
hearts...
and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!!

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present!

Spend more time this year with your partner as your potential success for the year can cause you to overlook people that are important. Unmarried Rats can expect new relationships and even rekindle existing ones. Your year will be busy but leave some time for play and make sure you take plenty of rest. Be careful of stomach problems, usually resulting from a busy lifestyle and bad diet or fast eating. When at work, you may sit facing north direction but do not sit with your back to it (north) or you may find unscrupulous people working against you or you may encounter undue gossip and back stabbing during the year.

A newborn!!

If the old doesn't go then the new won't come. What am I going on about? Finally I got a new mobile phone - nokia 6230i. Time for my panasonic GD55 to retire. Bad news for some is that I'm still with telstra for another two years - which means calling me is still just as expensive as before!...not that I get many calls anyway :p

Feeling like a little kid all over again. getting excited over the novelty. but i know this excitement won't last. i definitely felt i was mentally challenged because i spent ages trying to take of the back cover of the phone to no success. but such difficult task for me was completed in less than a minute by my mum!! argghhh...that feeling of incompetence!!

Another outing..

this must have one of the busiest weekends for the entire holidays thus far. for lunch went to cousin's party..its been a year since I've seen some of my cousins - some have grown A LOT - especially the little ones. the evening was mostly stuffing myself with food and just sitting there.

the second half of the day was filled with the 'k' gang at big echo. the usual for me - more sitting and listening rather than singing! dinner at chinatown. 10 people yesterday and 6 people today - not a single companion catching the illawarra train line - wonder why???

Bevo gathering...

It has been two years since the last bevo gathering. Ten people altogether (with little E) at pancakes. It was a great catch up with lots of cameras, 'news' and pork ribs...then a walk to the domain for 'jazz in the domain'. started sprinkling but was happy it didn't get any heavier! jessica rowe was there to close the event! the best thing at the domain was the free sunday telegraph!..haha

thanks a and k for catching the train with me! :)

Stress

Who would have thought the holidays could be stressful? Maybe the holiday itself is not, but certain activities are. What I am talking about is driving - night driving in particular. I've been told that once you get use to it, night driving is better than day. But at the initial stages its harder, more stressful and energy draining. No street lights, relying just on the headlights of the car and those around you. Suddenly, you feel as though you lose some of your senses - you feel that you can no longer see where you are going. No longer can you see the surrounding cues which usually indicate how fast you are going. No longer can you see the street names or the streets themselves. You just feel so blinded...

Restaurants..

Miss Saigon was average but none of the dishes that i tried was particularly great. we tried a tomato soup based noodles, beef noodles, a cold noodle dish with sugar cane and spring roll...

Is the new restaurant you're talking about the same one that I think you're talking about. it's opposite miss saigon right? if it is that one then i definitely agree with you! DO NOT GO THERE!!!...hahaha...the dishes were bad...

Ichiban-boshi

Dinner at ichiban-boshi tonight - near kinokuniya. must say its one of the better jap places that's not too expensive. the 40min wait was, i guess worth it - we were told its extra busy on thursday nights. for once i didn't end up chosing terrayaki chicken. instead i had tokyo ramen which was quite nice! the dumplings there were not bad either!

the train ride home: "cityrail apologises for the first two carriages being locked up because of water damage"..just thought it was funny comment made by cityrail..

Back to routine

Have reverted to my old routine with the 'all too frequent' visits to hurstville. its amazing no matter how often we go to buy grocery, we never fail to return home empty handed.

lunch at miss saigon today with cuz. a meal with a difference. everytime we eat viet its always beef noodles. but since today my cuz did the ordering we sampled a variety of dishes. a change at last!

added to my collection of watched series this holidays: Wars of In-Laws, Tin Long Bak Bo, The Gateau Affairs
