Who's that in the AFR??????

My oh my!! She looks soooo familiar :p There's still time...get the Australian Financial Review (AFR) to read the article THIS WEEKEND..haha...I so sound like I'm advertising!! I would put up the entire article if I knew how thumbnails worked...

Article Title: Welcome aboard, you'll be starting on $100,000!!!!

"Of course, we hear all this stuff that it's a strong job market but from where we are standing, the job market is very competitive and in order for us to stand out from the 1399 other applicants and secure a first interview, students need much more than high marks".

"There are just so many 'shining stars' at uni now that presenting a strong CV has gone way beyond having good marks and playing lots of sport"

"Above all, its about being well-rounded in everything and being able to display your ability to constantly make an impression and your ongoing contribution to a range of organisations".

NB: Other quotes have been made but it has been 'banned' from this site...

WE DEFINITELY HAVE ONE SHINING STAR RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF US!! :p

Oh Miss Zhou, you're going to have to give me your autograph so I can make a fortune out of it later down the track!!!

Crap

Someone threw out some of my audit articles!! but then again i guess i'm part of the blame since i didn't keep in a safe place - but i didn't expect him to be so efficient in cleaning up!...

Waiting

I'm waiting. Please say yes....pleaseeeee...been waiting for this moment for a long time. Don't disappoint me! :p

Cloud 9

Despite the fact that I still have more exams and assessments next week - after the tax one tonight I feel a lot more relaxed :) but I know that I will start stressing on sunday night when I realise that I have no idea what's been going on in stats for the past 9 weeks!!

CLB7 is so much nicer after the renovations - but the air-con is still as cold! The scheduled 6:10 exam didn't start until 6:35...so stuffy waiting just outside the room cause there were so many people!

Timing couldn't be better. I got down to the platform just as the train was approaching.

Misunderstanding! sigh...that always happen - why do people always seem to misunderstand me? especially when talking on the phone...but its all good! :p

SSS

Sleepy, stressed and stuffed!!!

That's all I can say :(

Psychology

I actually enjoyed today's lecture in psychology. didn't end up falling asleep so the one hour lecture for the day didn't go to waste!! the three interesting facts learnt: people perform better with the presence of other people, internet increases the 'likeability' of people and allow 'weird' people to feel 'not so weird' and when monkeys are housed in a group compared to when they were alone - they have a higher awareness of the feeling of happiness and hence are less likely to resort to cocaine to get the 'high' feeling.

More Numerology below:

You want to be of service to the world. Your deepest satisfaction comes from knowing that you have advanced the cause of humanity.

Your ideals are of the highest order. You are a perfectionist. You strive to make the world a utopia; to make each person's lot in life better; to become perfect yourself. One of your challenges in life is to strive toward your lofty goals and at the same time recognize the good you are doing.

You like and are fascinated by people from all walks of life. Human nature is a lifelong study for you. You are highly intuitive, but not an especially good judge of character. You are a bit naive, as well, thinking perhaps that all people have the same values as you.

You dream of having the resources to immediately relieve the suffering of others, whether it is economic, physical, or psychological.

You are gifted with a good mind and a great deal of wisdom, which makes you a natural teacher, counselor, or healer.

As much as you desire to be of service to others, you also crave fame and the approval of the masses. Much of the energy you expend in life is directed toward putting yourself before an audience, most often as a salesperson whose product provides some social good; as a philanthropist; or an artist.

You are attracted to the arts as a vocation, especially as an actor, photographer, or writer. But whatever your profession, any involvement in the arts, even as a hobby, will provide you with a deep and lasting satisfaction.

Secretly, you dream of having a big impact on the world. Others may see this as egotism, especially when you are still young. But your concern for others is genuine. You must apply yourself in this direction in order to become psychologically whole and personally satisfied.

Your vision is on the crowds of people, which can cause you to overlook the needs of those closest to you. You need personal love as well, but have a tendency to put your needs in the background. Still, you are a loving person, and only need to be reminded to direct and demonstrate that love to those nearby. If, however, you are focused exclusively on the masses, people will perceive you as distant and a bit aloof.

You are emotional, and sensitive. You can also be moody and critical. You have high expectations for yourself and others. This can cause you much anger when your expectations are unfulfilled. One of your most important life lessons is to forgive.

Because you are striving hard to attain high ideals, you may think of yourself as superior to others. Arrogance is a trap many 9s fall into. The danger is that arrogance cuts you off from the thing you love the most: people.

Your happiness and contentment are therefore highly dependant on the ease with which you are able to serve and influence mankind.

It is the paradox of your Heart's Desire that you receive by giving. Both your material success and spiritual satisfaction are made possible through service and sacrifice to others.

Screaming

Just feel like screaming out across the ocean - like they do in movies...does that really help people feel better when they are upset/stressed?? I want to try but then again do not have the courage...

Guys

Its so true. Yesterday the lecturer was saying how gals talk about different things to guys. LIke gals would talk about 'how things are going' and catch up on the goss and stuff like that whilst guys would talk about 'topical issues'.

Got to the lecture room earlier today and just happened to overhear some guys talking - wasn't deliberate mind you..haha. Well I just thought it was funny how they were talking about religion/philosophy, politics and science - something I would probably rarely - if ever, talk about.

Not a good day...

Have mid-session on Tuesday so went to uni bookshop to buy the handbook - yup I know its a bit late - funny I'm still buying textbooks like in week 7. Found out it was sold out - why am I not surprised?? Well, decided I'll order one anyway - probably have to check out the city bookshop tomorrow!! Damn auditing...

Lecture that was suppose to be my one and only for the day - only lasted half an hour...

Now, my weekend will be spent doing - going out sunday, psyc report due tuesday, audit mid-sem tuesday, tax mid-sem friday......far out, that doesn't leave me much time at all!!

Indulgence

Tetsuya in Sydney is ranked 4th as the world top restaurants. I was thinking that I might go in the holidays to see how good it is but then I checked out the site...a bit out of my price range. Tetsuya's ten-course degustation menu is $175 (GST inclusive) per person. Maybe a couple years later when I earn a bit more. Now that word 'degustation' sounds extremely familiar :p

From SMH:

Top 50 restaurants

And Rockpool coming in at number 42. Didn't we have Rockpool catering for our year 12 formal? I don't remember the food being all the good. Maybe the restaurant is different.

Oh gosh, I should be studying here, not talking about food!

CV renegades

Ever wonder why finding a job is so competitive? or how some people manage to make their CV look so good??

The article might give you some clue :p

CV renegades

Good luck to all those job-hunting!!

The end is nigh

From SMH:

When you've gotta go, you've gotta go - but how, and when? Experts from around the world assess the natural and man-made threats to human survival.

Threats to human survival:
1. super-volcanos - very high
2. Telomere erosion - low
3. Climate change - high
4. Viral pandemic - very high
5. Terrorism - very high
6. Meteorite impact - medium
7. Robots taking over - high
8. Cosmic ray blast - low
9. Swallowed by a black hole - exceedingly low

The end is nigh

Who really knows when the world is going to end or when one's life will end? Freak accidents or nature calls? Things happen so unpredictably - every minute could be the last. Have no idea why this thought came to me...maybe its from the article.

Everyone experiences ups and downs - from happiness to disappointment, bliss to devastation - maybe its from these experiences that we learn to treasure what we have - whether that be family, friends or things/life in general. Take every opportunity, every disappointment as a learning curve - things happen for a reason - usually for the better even if you don't think so at the current moment!

Presentation

ahhhh...bad bad bad..totally hated it!! talked about the 'wrong' stuff - why did I even mention Sarbane Oxley Act! and was totally lost when questions were asked - why is there low power...how was I suppose to know?? argghh

bad things aside...the 'forced' trip into the city with MTF was worthwhile cause it was quite fun even though it was only for one hour :p I hope that MS won't be mad at me - VERY sorry - only found out literally last minute that I couldn't meet up with you!!

Dinner

Had dinner at Emperor Garden...witness an 'eat and run' episode from a restaurant next door - the patron refusing to pay, swore at the waiter and ran off...

thanks MTF, JQ and PJ for pics...more welcome anytime!! :p

Life...

Out, out, brief candle!

The Dream Ticket

Cancelled class

Got to uni earlier than usual because I got a lift. Rather disappointing start to the day - went to mat labs to download lecture notes which was not avaliable. went down to squarehouse for ulead - found out it was cancelled after 15 minutes of waiting. went to union computer lab - could not save anything not even onto desktop or my documents - luckily I found out nice and early before I really did anything. sat outside to soak up the sunshine for 1.5 hours to wait for my next class!

Prawn eating contest prize

Drumroll....the winner prize is:

Please DO NOT let me know if you strike it big (OMG that would be sooo disappointing for me...haha...but DO remember who gave you the good fortune!! :p)

I was trying to find a close resemblance of a prawn of some sort but couldn't find anything...but I guess its seemingly fit since the eating took place at the casino...GOOD LUCK!

I shall try to resist the temptation of scratching it myself before it reaches you!

Flower hunting

I just realised how hard it is to buy flowers today...finding it for the right purpose, the right colour, the right type and the right budget is extrememly hard! Spent probably an hour walking up and down George St and all around town hall trying to find flowers!! In the end I ended up with purple iris but when I got home, my dad totally hated it whilst my mum liked it...why are people so hard to please???

Oh well, he's just going have to live with it...for the next couple of days anyway!

A review of yesterday!!!

I decided to do a review of what happened yesterday because it was such a memorable day!

The highlights of the day:
AT THE BUFFET:
- watched the 'swinging' of the pyrmont bridge - twice
- prawn contest -> D=52, V=51, G=46...in winning order :) hope you guys were fine afterwards (first prize coming your way soon!)
- MTF turning up two hours late!!...that was funny! making me keep ringing her..haha
- the 'pole' position ^_^ (lights, camera, action!!)
- the massive cake
- fabulous presents
- extraordinary people...hope everyone enjoyed themselves! :)

AT THE CONCERT:
- Sitting in second row and watching the performance with Vanessa literally in front of us (since we were sitting on the side of the mic) for half of the time
- The incorporation of funky items in the song including the squeaky toy hammer that toddlers play (both small and large ones), balloons, glass bottles, wooden sticks...
- Technical hitch but electric violin was so cool!
- Downside was that we were not allowed to take pics but MFT stole a couple of secs worth of quality filming :)
- ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE..took awhile before she came out again but it was THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! Definitely worth the money...but wished I bought the program as well :(

AFTER CONCERT:
- Nice hot chocolate
- Beautiful harbour view
- No potato wedges but had half oven baked potatos which was just as good
- Eating tabasco right out of the bottle...very brave but then its prob nothing to him
- Crazy driving esp. up the ramps - hold on tight!

A Happy Day!

Couldn't resist blogging even though its way past my bedtime since I have uni tomorrow! A more detailed review to come later. Just like to thank everyone for making it such a great day especially MTF (even though she was two hours late)!!! Loved all the presents and in particularly just having everybody there was fabulous. I do hope that everyone had a wonderful time and had a nice lunch especially some people who ate 51 (watch your cholesterol grandpa)...hm....and 46 prawns :p (yes sweetie) respectively!! I'll just put couple of pics from pj's camera!! thanks for those since with my photos they will take a while to develop since I don't have the luxury of a digi cam!

Bevo

St. Georgian

The 'hole' group

The Vanessa Mae concert was an absolute thriller - thought it was a bit short cause it lasted 1.5 hours only....but it was fantastic because she was playing literally from in front of us for some time (with our heads looking up that was)...music was people, people we were with were good...hmmm..eating a fork-full of tabasco sauce straight out of the bottle - very...brave. I was highly disappointed that I didn't get to take a pic of her. :(

Will post more pics once I get the photos developed...hopefully before this time next year!

Excited v worried

Feeling mixed emotions today - excitement and worry. As much as I like to think that everything will turn out well tomorrow, I still have this feeling that things might turn sour. I seriously hope that everyone will have a great time and enjoy themselves :)

Perfectionism is a dangerous state of mind in an imperfect world. The best way is to forget doubts and set about the task in hand... If you are doing your best, you will not have time to worry about failure.

Walking...

I think it must be my recent lack of exercise - feeling such a wreck - so tired after walking for...um..four hours?? around in the city. No more good sales on at the moment :(

Today bought a pork pie from DJ's foodcourt...I asked the person to heat it up and she was like..err..it's meant to be eaten cold. I had my doubts afterwards whether it would taste any good. Result: the meat was like spam...so yeah I know I won't be getting that again!

Tax

Argggg...why do they set so much readings and why are the assignments soooo hard!!!

Oh yeah if you want a free CD, with 15 classical tracks, get tomorrow's Herald
:)

From SMH:
"The Japanese entertainment giant Sony has patented an idea for transmitting data directly into the brain, with the goal of enabling a person to see movies and play video games in which they smell, taste and perhaps even feel things"

April Aries Horoscope

Sometimes I find them quite true - to a certain degree:

Your Monthly Horoscope
April, 2005
This is a time of considerable frustration and your desires or efforts appear to be thwarted or at least delayed. Relationships with men and people in authority may be particularly uncomfortable. Also, you have more self-doubt than usual; your mood is somber and rather self-critical. This is a good time to take stock of your life, to see how you are limiting and holding yourself back, and to determine your next steps. But do not attempt to press forward now, and don't take whatever setbacks you experience too much too heart. You are at cross purposes with the people in your environment who are most able to benefit you. You tend to come on too strong, to be oblivious to others' needs and intentions, or to act inappropriately now. You feel an urgency to take positive steps to achieve your goals, but be certain that you are not overstepping yourself, as this can cause considerable enmity at this time.

Aries

No hard feelings! :p

Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite!!

A snippet from SMH:

"One worrying aspect is an increase in the number of people's homes (infested). It's now spreading right through the community," Mr Doggett, who says he recently found 5000 bed bugs in one woman's bed, said

"Where people put their heads there's bed bugs ready to bite," According to Mr Doggett: "The adult bed bug actually takes quite a large blood meal in the order of 10 times that of a mosquito."

But Mr Doggett believed bed bugs were occasionally a blessing in disguise.

"One of the funniest cases was a motel in Queensland who had a few beds infested and they put the beds out on the street so that they could clean them and basically they were stolen. So sweet justice was to be had."

Bugs!

I guess people ultimately get what they deserve :)

Sharing is caring isn't it???

For the drivers out there...if you're thinking of speeding you might like to reconsider. In a way the change is good but bad depending on how you see it. Be careful especially when driving in school zone!

From RTA:
"Speeding fine and demerit point change"

The penalty for speeding up to 15 km/h over the limit has increased from 2 to 3 demerit points. For light vehicle drivers (eg cars, motorbikes, vans, etc) the fine has been reduced from $130 to $75, while the fine for heavy vehicles drivers remains $199.

3 points also apply for speeding up to 15 km/h over the 40 km/h school bus speed limit.

Safe driving!!!

Half Yearly Resolution

I don't think people usually make half yearly resolution...well there's a first for everything - so why not while it crossed my mind :) And I know its a few months early as well. I guess when I don't want to work I tend to think ahead of what I 'could' do (i.e. 10 weeks ahead - in the winter break)...I so know that the following things won't happen but I'll try to try - if that makes sense...

1. Weekend beach walking/jogging - let me know if anyone wants to come down to Brighton beach before 9am for a morning walk - before the sun is shining strong! TOP PRIORITY!!! I tell you the BEST time for a morning walk will be before 6am - believe it or not I've done it before but it takes a LOT of motivation :p
2. Rock climbing
3. Learn to play tennis - but then who would want to play with someone who's uncoordinated :(

I just think I need to change my lifestyle slightly and do my heart a little good instead of spending 24/7 sitting and sleeping...and I do realise that my clothes are getting tighter...:p

Shakespeare

No not the poet - but the pies! :D Came home after uni with a Shakespeare chicken and mushroom pie waiting for me....very warming :p Feeling very full and content afterward! And rather than all sauce and no meat, they have mash potato inside as well as 'real' chicken. Geez I sound I am advertising for them! Oh well, if so they just got free advertisement on my site. The headline - it was for free at Miranda - with a coupon that is :D

Had an auditing quiz today - 15 minutes, 5 multiple choices...It is also the official start of the War of 'Hehe' - *faint*, *fall*, *fly* :p Oh that is one amusement that will last for many weeks to come...HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!

A thought crossed my mind when I was on the bus - it would be so great to get a GPS so I won't ever get lost!

On a more serious note, after reading lola's blog, I realised how there has been many tragic incidents occurring in the past couple of weeks...maybe its 'ching ming'...so everyone please take care!!!

Monday, April 04, 2005

Being an idiot...

That pretty much sums up how I'm feeling at the moment. As much as I should be studying for a quiz tmr, I've done nothing much apart from watching tv and 'trying to get started'...I'll avoid using the 'p' word from now :p

Kohlberg Dilemmas

Just curious...if you were the husband would you steal the drug?? its a question of morals....

"In Europe, a woman was near death from a special kind of cancer. There was one drug that the doctors thought might save her. It was an experimental drug that had been developed by a pharmacological researcher (doesn't that sound like mp?? :p) at a local university. A special radioactive isotope was used in the drug's manufacture. The drug was expensive to make, but the druggist was charging ten times what the drug cost him to make. He paid $400 for the isotop and charged $4,000 for a small dose of the drug. The sick woman's husband went to everyone he knew to borrow the money and tried every legal means, but he could only get together about $2,000, which is half of what it cost. He told the druggist that his wife was dying, and asked him to sell it cheaper or let him pay later. But the druggist said, "No, I discovered the drug and I'm going to make money from it." So, having tried every legal means, the husband gets desperate and considers breaking into the researcher's laboratory to steal the drug for his wife".

Back to uni

First day of uni after a week of holidays...getting a headache...maybe its from the rain cause I didn't use an umbrella! Everytime I open one it seems to flip inside-out! I want my old black one back! Pleaseeeee :p

Sunday, April 03, 2005

COUNT-DOWN!

Getting excited - exactly one more week before I will do two things - both the very first time in my life! :p

Hopefully both will turn out well!

Hm...have a couple of hours to kill before the concert...maybe I'll go home, maybe I'll hang around, maybe I'll just....*dream*.

Family Gathering

Some family gathering are good and others are not so good. Today was so so...probably better than I expected but it was still rather boring. But I guess it was kinda special cause it was my 4 year old cousin's birthday. The funniest thing was there were 2 other kids and as soon as cute Callum blew out the candle, the other kid pinched a smartie from the cake...so irresistible!

Oh and never try to squash a 'supposedly' empty beer can unless you're absolutely sure its empty - otherwise you'll just end up like me! Smelling like foster beer...luckily having beer on your clothes is not the same as having beer in your bloodstream otherwise I might be in trouble if I had to do a breathtest!

Thinking...

I've been thinking too much about useless things lately.... Have been rather restless..maybe I just need to find my balance!

Brian Tracy: Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.

Effects of too much chocolate!!

Chocolate is beautiful...dark, rich and sweet :p But when one consumes a bit too much it becomes quite disruptive. Hypo-active, strange, dis-oriented and a bit nuts! Try it and you'll see what I mean :p You would only need to ask MTF to find out! But after a good night sleep I think I am functioning normally again...HALLELUJAH!

Happy April Fools!

Today was good especially in the arvo - shopping was ok - ...didn't end up getting anything by myself. Think the part where I caught up with some people was more interesting! :) Funny how you seem to bump into more people by chance then when you arrange an outing sometimes...
