So good with 'free' printing...managed to print all my lecture notes and everything that I need - for now anyway. Have one and a bit more weeks to slaughter the printer!!

Some people are so cheeky!!...hehe...put one inside another?? hmmm....

Maybe I need new phone???

Sorry F...have no idea why I couldn't receive your calls. Very bizarre. I was inside the library practically all afternoon and usually I could receive all my calls - except today. I recharged my phone in the morning to make sure that it wouldn't run out of battery. Hope your friend handed it your assignment on time and all!!

Handed one assignment in today...two to go before the end of semester - can't believe we're already in the second last week of uni. It still hasn't sunk in yet. Still feeling so bludgy which isn't good!!

Random thoughts

Did nothing all morning..woke up around 10. spent an hour on breakfast and reading the sunday paper. played on my dusty piano...it seriously needs a good clean. and now just trying to get started on work. now hungry again...

feeling like an old granny these days...my back is getting more and more crooked by the day. can't seem to keep my back straight. might need to resort to desperate measures that involves attaching a plank of wood to my back. hmm..not a pretty sight and aint gonna be confortable either.

Interaction!

Disappointed in the lack of interaction in my social life but thrilled with getting interaction in my 'experiment'. After spending an entire day manipulating my results - finally got the required interaction to do my analysis. My next problem is writing the report. Somehow I don't think it's going to be as smooth sailing as I anticipate...

Peppermint

Very intriguing... research has found that the presence of peppermint odor improves performance of tedious tasks!! Maybe that's what I need right now - some peppermint!! This is bizarre - researching on a scientific subject and it happens to lead me to a feng shui site...hmm...guess that just shows how broad science really is

One more month...

There is only ONE more month and two days before the holidays!!! Looking forward to it but dredding it at the same time. What needs to be done before then:
1) 3 assignments
2) study exam
3) trying hard not to procrastinate
4) staying focus
5) getting some sleep
6) pigging out on junk

Hm..this list is going no where...better start cracking on the assignment due Monday!!

Out and about

Following a VERY boring 3 hour tax lecture, caught the 397 to the city. Had lunch at Asagao - the place was nice but the food was pretty average - what did I order? From memory it was tempura udon. I didn't like the BBQ Seafood Noodle either or whatever it was called.

Headed off to country road...long queues all around and not very exciting stuff. So busy around Pitt St Mall during lunchtime. Not that it was a surprise. Despite the 25% off shoes at DJs, couldn't find my 'dream' boots...oh where art thou???

We then headed down to a Japanese grocery store...yup F, the one you always go to!!

Tiring but fun day!!!

Congrats!

Congrats PJ on graduating!! Another overcast day but funnily enough, the weather was almost 'perfect' in the afternoon. There must be some sort of connection between rain and graduations!!

Weird addiction

This is very weird..I do not like Nicholas Tse, do not like his english accent or much of his looks but I am currently addicted to one of his english songs "Let Me Die" - love the music behind it cause its so melancholic with the strings and piano...people say you sing from the heart...maybe its true to a certain extent

KFC

I don't know...Haven't had KFC in years!!! But it doesn't seem to taste as good as it use to. Or maybe cause it was only warmish by the time it was brought home. My stomach is kinda complaining now...maybe cause I ate too fast or maybe cause I mixed hot food with cold. I just realise I keep saying maybe. Maybe cause I'm too tired or maybe cause I'm confused, annoyed and lost

No company

Its past 2:30 on a Sunday morning. Guess everyone else is busy I want to too! Both msn and icq list is empty. Oh well...But my auditing report is still in its initial stages...how can I write 6 pages about something where information cannot be found??

Computer mal-function

I hate it when the computer mysteriously and unwarningly restart itself! Being the forgetful person I am, I probably had about 10 documents opened on my taskbar. And now, I've forgotten the sites to the stuff that I was looking at. Good thing microsoft word can recover some documents but I have no idea what sites I had open. And I really don't want to sift through my history because there's sooooo many useless sites there....ahhhhh...

Bored

Leila looks so cute with Bosco. Ok ok...I know its not like me to post up celebrity pictures but I think I'm reaching breaking point with my series starvation. Well almost Legend of Ah Wong sounds pretty good although I must say Roger looks very weird with his haircut. Enough of TVB mania for now...I'm trying to satisfy my craving with entertainment news. Pic taken from here A shot of B&L before they go 'speeding' in Legend of Ah Wong...

I should go and do some work...

Disappointed

Have yet to find a cake shop that provides my family with 100% satisfaction! It could be that mango is not in season so it wasn't particularly sweet but the sponge was nice. Comments made about the cream was that it was not 'aromatic' enough...hopefully next time will be a better one. I bet you next time, they'll say the cake will be too sweet...sigh. Hard to satisfy!!! But then again I guess without criticism there will be no improvement!

To surprise and be surprised...

Love surprises especially when they brighten up someone's day!!

Continuing on from before, I was in the lab and didn't realise that V and J were on the other side of the room until I went to get my printing. Loophole in the system - there's a way to get free printing...hmmmmm Yahoo games are fun...a good way to use your brain even though my one was working at snail pace. Yes I don't know how to play any sort of chess, black jack or mahjong...I think I need to learn some strategic games.

Thanks for being a great shopping company F! Mum was happy with the 'surprise' which was GOOD!!! She actually thought I bought the cake from an 'aussie' cake shop....hehe.

Bored

At uni right now...F decided to nigelate me and went off to the gym by herself. The lab is practically empty right now which is good. No one is on icq and I can't log onto msn. Oh well. Our group meeting this morning was rather unproductive today - it would have made no difference whether we came or not - especially since a 'particular' person came almost one hour later :p

I wanted to do my auditing assignment but I forgot the question. So its a bit hard to start. What a bum! Something to do with international auditing standards?? Guess I'll find out when I go home!

An ordinary day...

A pretty ordinary day...

Just as always, the temperature in my house seemed to be at least 5 degrees colder than the outside. So here I go, wearing a thick warm jacket and happily trot out of the house. Once I got to the bus-stop saw people wearing t-shirt and thin tops...suddenly felt like I stepped out of an igloo. Got to the lecture room - physics theatre to be precise - usually its a freezer in there but it was surprisingly warm today. But it all turns out well when I was waiting at the bus stop on my way home...windy and cold. Just glad I had my thick warm jacket with me

Nothing much to say

Since there's not much to say today. Have a look at what my star sign say instead:

There are some excellent influences today that will help alleviate stresses and worries. Allow yourself time to contemplate and be at peace with the world for a while. This is not to say be lazy but to move into a more creative space than you usually do. Someone has some inspiring words to offer.

I can't seem to relate to it today. Definitely worrying and stressing about upcoming assessments. Totally depressed with my marks....on the verge of failing...hmmmm not a good sign I've been contemplating every night about getting my work done but saying, thinking and doing are very different things.

What happened to my 'happy' blog?? A thing we learnt in psyc is that it doesn't matter how you conduct your experiment but the golden rule is to have your participants leave the experiment feeling at least as happy as when they started. Don't fret. This is no experiment just my ramblings! But although this isn't an experiment I'd still like everyone to leave this blog feeling happy It's a beautiful freezing day...

U2 - Beautiful Day

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day

Five too many emails accounts...

I can't resist the temptation of not opening another email account with gmail since the storage space has now been increased to 2GB. Ah wells...its all good! I've found making attachments with gmail is soooooo much more faster and less of a hassle.

Here goes: adachum@gmail.com

If anyone wants a gmail account I could send you an invite thing so just give me a yell!

The Keys to My Heart...

From J's site

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful... that you'll never change.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.

A personal favourite quote: "Accountants aren't boring people. They just get excited over boring things."

Eventful-less

What actually happened on a supposedly 3 hours uni day...

Before class, went to hand-in assignment and 'bumped' into C. I want to go shopping too!! Oh well, maybe next time. Head down, thinking about I don't know what - V called me and I must have had a really blank expression on my face. Anyways, headed to the newsagent to get the newspaper and went to lecture.

THEN...got a sms from MTF. Hmmmmm...was I surprised or not?? probably not when she said she won't make it to uni to hand in assignment Went to lab to print out the assignment for her - waited, waited and waited Emails are so slow when you're in a hurry - took ages before I actually got it. Realised I didn't have a pen to fill out the cover sheet and asked this girl - she must have been thinking 'what the'...anyway that bit down. Literally ran down to JGS - so many people hanging around - think someone said hi to me but I didn't realise until I left...hmmm talk about delayed reaction.

Lab was as boring as any other week and again finished in one hour instead of two. Headed down to the lab with V. Stayed for half an hour and walked down to lower campus to catch my bus. On my way down, someone stood right in front of me. Took me a while to figure out why. Then I realised it was Mandy...haha. Then the rain starting POURING down Could not be bothered taking out my dodgy umbrella cause I knew it will flip inside out so walked/ran to the bus-stop. Fortunately the bus came on time for once!!

That is the end of my eventful-less 3 hours!

Ice cream

It's freezing cold...I'm shaking and feet is purple but yet I'm still eating ice-cream - and loving it How much sense does that make? Probably not much! Food is always a good remedy for avoiding work!! But when the last 24 hours arrives before you have an assignment due, you kinda start regretting and begin to wonder why you spent so much time eating and day-dreaming. Then there goes another 12 hours of the day - - just sitting here, wondering why, making excuses - your head filled with distracting thoughts - and ultimately getting nothing done.

Black Friday

Since nothing particularly good or bad happened today I thought it might be interesting to have a look at some of the history surrounding Black Friday! Enjoy!

In the Bible the numbers 7, 12 and 40 have symbolic meaning and appear throughout the Old and New Testaments. The number 12 is considered a lucky number. Consequently, the number, which follows 12, was thought to be evil. The number 13, in the Christian faith, is the number of parties at the Last Supper, with the 13th guest at the table being the traitor, Judas. When Christians combine this day and number, the combination can only hold special significance.

Known scientifically as "Tridecaphobia," fear of the number 13 is probably the most common of all superstitions. Buildings avoid numbering the 13th floor. Airplanes avoid the 13th aisle. And almost every North American knows that Friday the 13th is considered a bad luck day.

For most folks, Friday the thirteenth is considered the unluckiest of days, unless you were born on Friday the 13. If you were born on this day then Friday the 13 is your lucky day.

The origins of Friday superstitions are many. One of the best known is that Eve tempted Adam with the apple on a Friday. Tradition also has it that the Flood in the Bible, the confusion at the Tower of Babel, and the death of Jesus Christ all took place on Friday.

The modern basis for the Friday the 13th superstition stems from Friday October the 13th, 1307. On this date, the Pope of the church in Rome in Conjunction with the King of France, carried out a secret death warrant against "the Knights Templar". The Templars were terminated as heretics, never again to hold the power that they had held for so long. There Grand Master, Jacques DeMolay, was arrested and before he was killed, was tortured and crucified. A Black Friday indeed!

Long before the Bible was written, Friday was considered an important day. Primitive people set aside Fridays as a special time to worship their deities and ask them for good crops, health and happiness. Those who worked on this day were told not to expect "good luck" from the gods.

The day Friday was named after Frigg (or Frigga), the Norse goddess of marriage. Later she was confused with the goddess of love, Freya, who in turn became identified with Friday. When the Norsemen and Germanic tribes became Christians, Freya was supposed to have been banished to the mountains as a witch.

Friday came to be called "witches' Sabbath." For it was believed that on this day, each week, twelve witches and the Devil met - thirteen evil spirits up to no good! This is one of the reasons for today's superstition about Friday the 13th.

The Scandinavian belief that the number 13 signified bad luck sprang from their mythological 12 demigods, who were joined by a 13th demigod, Loki, an evil cruel one, who brought upon humans great misfortune.

Three jacket....AHHH...much warmer now!!

Girlfriends

I'm only as strong as the cocktails I drink, the hairspray I use, and the girlfriends I have. Here's to you! Why do we only have parties for each other when one of us gets married, pregnant, has a birthday, or retires? What would most of us do without our sisters, confidants, and shopping, lunching and travelling girlfriends? Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

Someone will always be prettier.
They will always be smarter.
Their house will be bigger.
They will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go,
and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it.
The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favoured
woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know,
she's got the car, the house, the clothes....might be lonely.
And the word says if "I have not Love, I am nothing."
So, again, love you.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say
"I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!"
"Winners make things happen.
Losers let things happen."
Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman.

"To the world you might be one person,
but to one person you just might be the world".

Critical People

We all have to deal with critical people at times. You know the type - the person who can spot a flaw from across the room, gives unsolicited advice, frequently complains and passes judgment, is negative and seems impossible to please.

We can all be critical. Every day, we literally critique everything that goes on around us consciously and unconsciously. Unfortunately, some people tend to verbalize the thoughts many of us have learned to keep to ourselves. When things don't go our way or we're in a bad mood it is easy to become critical. It's true, miserable people prefer miserable company. Critical people actually feel better around others who share the same negative attitudes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY B!!!

Someone's getting older now...any wiser?? I'm not sure. More critical...definitely! Hope you like the pressiessssss

Nice catch up with MS in the morning - good luck! The bulk of the day was rather ordinary. However the most 'fascinating' event was seeing someone in a skirt! Someone who hardly EVER wears a skirt and heels! So pretty!! Hope you had a great time without getting too drunk

Pampering is tops for most mums

(From SMH)

"Cleaning products are the worst gift mothers could receive on Mother's Day, an online survey found.

Garden tools, kitchen appliances and ill-fitting clothing were also on the list of dud presents. But the major no-no was no acknowledgement of Mother's Day at all.

Topping the wish list was pampering, with a third of mothers saying their first-choice gift was a treatment such as a massage with babysitting included.

Also popular were holidays, hand-made gifts or dinners with the family.

Scoring surprisingly low marks were traditional presents such as chocolates and perfume, with just 2 per cent indicating this preference. Only 3 per cent wanted flowers, and 4 per cent wanted jewellery.

The survey of 1595 mothers was by parenting website Essential Baby."

It's not hard to understand why cleaning products would be a mother's worst nightmare on Mother's Day! The surprisingly unpopular gift is kitchen appliances...all those mother's day catalogues seems to advertise a fair bit of kitchen appliances

Happy Mother's Day

Cooked my 'signature' breakfast - french toast Then went to cemetery for a bit of flower arrangement lesson followed by a trip to Burwood for lunch. Feeling very tired now - want to sleep again!

Dinner buffet at Shangri-la + prequel

The day began unproductively at 7:30 and that lasted till around 11:30 when I left for uni. Following the one hour of lecture, caught L94 to the city. Made around 2 trips to david jones, 4 trips to myer and a trip to bing lee in search of a footspa for mum. Just when I was about to make the purchase, I realised the box that I had was different to the display. And when I asked if there were any of the one on display left, they said it was all sold out. What a bummer - all that 2+ hours searching, calling and deciding amounted to nothing! At least I had MTF to keep my company for half an hour!

Next came flower searching. Spent a long time deciding which bunch to get at Roses Only! Luckily I charged my phone this morning otherwise it would definitely have run out of battery and credit...

Waited at the restaurant for over an hour by myself whilst for the rest of the party made an accidental detour to north sydney and back. Must say, the food was VERY filling. They had exceptional service - I think that was the best thing out of the entire dinner. The seafood was fresh - lobsters, oysters, prawns, crabs...with a variety of other food - italian, asian and indian. The hot food I guess was average. Dessert was good - not quite 'spectacular' - oh did I mention the chocolate fountain?? - but my favourite was passionfruit gelato! Overall, a nice place - not too crowded...probably one of the better ones that I've been to :p - ratings: service 9/10, seafood 8.5/10, hot food 6.5/10, dessert 7/10, ambience 8.5/10 (cause we got a window seat - even though it was dark outside, it still 'felt' good!!) OVERALL RATING: 7.9/10

That's all folks for now!

Does weather affect mood?

It is discovered that people must spend at least 30 minutes outside in nice weather for their mood to actually increase. It is important for people, especially college kids, to make an everyday attempt to go outside for at least a 30-minute period. Doing this can help your overall health by "improving mood, memory and broadening cognitive style (Keller)." The University of Michigan also found that by staying indoors, while the weather outside is nice, may actually decrease mood and cognitive ability (sciencedaily.com).

Home Sweet Home

My revisit to Kingsgrove station after 5 years was 'thrilling'. I stalked MTF, ransacked her house, grabbed all the valuables and left by the back door. Well not quite...almost. Fun, fun and fun + stress stress stress! E was so cute...haha. Rushing back to her room to tie her hair cause a stranger was in the house :p

What can I say but that you have a very cosy room....next time I'll stay for dinner and make a BIGGER mess in your house.

I won't forget your AFR's!! The 'digging' through the AFR was very sticky and dirty!!

Smile

An interesting article from Blitz this week. Apparently when you're unhappy or feeling depressed - stand in front of a mirror and smile (gigantic ones) at yourself for three minutes every day. It will make you happier. So whenever life becomes a bum, whenever you become sad or depressed - just smile! :D

HAPPY SMILING!!

Gender Divide

So how true is the concept of 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'??

From SMH:

"Being the life and soul of the party could be good for the heart. Researchers found that men who were socially isolated had raised levels of a blood chemical linked to heart disease, attacks and strokes.

Scientists in the US studied 3267 men, with an average age of 62, who underwent physical examinations and answered a series of questions about their social lives.

They were asked if they were single or married, how many friends and relatives they knew whom they could confide in and the extent of their participation in group activities and religious meetings or services.

The men were then assigned a social network score of one to four. Isolated men were at the bottom of the scale, and those who were highly connected at the top.

The researchers found that the average level of IL-6 in the blood of men with a score of one was 3.85 picograms per millilitre. Men with a social network score of four had a level of 3.52 picograms.

"This was a statistically significant difference," said the research's leader, Dr Eric Loucks, from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.

"Our analyses suggest that it may be good for the heart to be connected. In general, it seems to be good for health to have close friends and family, to be connected to community groups or religious organisations, and to have a close partner."

The researchers said the same link was not found for women."

So why the gender difference?

Dominance

There is evidence to suggest that guys are better negotiators. But could it also be said they are more deceitful??

Task in class: Choose five tokens from a bag - tokens consist of different colours with a scoring scheme - the aim is to negotiate with people and to exchange tokens in order to get the highest score - people were grouped according to their scores. ALL the guys in the class were in the highest group and the rest of the class (all gals) were in the other two groups...the catch was once you started negotiating you had to make an exchange regardless of whether the other person had the 'desired' token...the fact is not everyone adhered to this rule....the rest you can decide...

Tukey or Turkey...

You are probably like what the?? That's my exact reaction when I see these words. I'm talking about stats here. Tukey (pronounced 'too''key' - which reminds me of 'turkey') is some method you use to control the family-wise for inferences on all comparisons. Yeah what's that suppose to mean? I have no idea but had better work that out by tomorrow which is when I have an exam on a VERY CLUELESS subject...wish me luck!
